Our organization represents approximately 128 American Indian churches of five (5) denominations: United Methodist, Burnt Swamp Baptist Association, Church of God, Assemblies of God and the Holiness Methodist. The Healing Lodge is the hub that will improve the health of the underserved and disenfranchised citizens of Robeson and surrounding counties. Through collaborative efforts The Healing Lodge will help remove the barrier in seeking medical care among American Indians and other groups of poverty.  Barriers of significant concern are fear and lack of trust among the health care system.

Ø      NAIM is a partner of the Robeson County Partnership for Community Health.  NAIM supports the mission to coordinate and implement countywide health improvement initiatives. The Healing Lodge collaborated with Robeson Health Care to be a partner in the SPNS program or the Southeastern North Carolina American Indian HIV/AIDS Initiative.

Ø      Through a partnership with the Robeson County Health Department, a STD Outreach Worker has had tremendous impact within the local communities.

Ø      NAIM has partnered with the Healthy Carolinians program for 2010 in an effort to conduct diabetes education, awareness, and screenings within our churches and communities.

Ø      NAIM has successfully trained over 30 lay health advisors with emphasis being placed on a vast array of health disparities.

Ø      The Parish Nurse Program funded by Duke Endowment has established assistance within three Indian communities within the county. The implementation of this project was the first joint interfaith/health and human service project in Robeson County, thus setting precedent for future projects in minority communities.
